This year, Express Entry draws continue to favor candidates in key sectors, including:

  • Healthcare

  • Skilled Trades

  • French-Language Proficiency

Understanding the Express Entry System

Express Entry is Canada’s application management system for three major economic immigration programs:

  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)

  • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)

Candidates submit an Express Entry profile and receive a CRS score based on factors such as age, education, work experience, and language skills. Those with the highest scores receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence.

Step-by-Step Guide to Express Entry

  1. Check Eligibility – Determine if you qualify for one of the three Express Entry-managed programs.

  2. Prepare Documents – Complete language tests, gather educational and work-related documents, and obtain an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) if necessary.

  3. Submit Express Entry Profile – Receive a CRS score and enter the candidate pool.

  4. Await a Draw – Stay in the pool until IRCC issues an invitation based on your CRS score and category eligibility.

  5. Receive an ITA – If invited, submit a complete application for permanent residence within 60 days.

  6. Provide Biometrics – If requested, submit fingerprints and photos.

  7. Final Decision & Landing – Once approved, candidates receive a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) and complete their landing in Canada.

What’s Next for Express Entry Candidates?

With IRCC maintaining a strong focus on skilled workers and in-demand professions, candidates should keep their CRS scores competitive by enhancing their qualifications, gaining additional work experience, or improving their language proficiency. Staying informed about upcoming draws is key to maximizing immigration opportunities.
