Don’t Miss Out: Provincial Nominee Program Updates for Skilled Workers

This week, three Canadian provinces have opened their doors to new candidates through their Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs).

Overview of the Provincial Nominee Program

The PNP, established in 1998, plays a crucial role in distributing the benefits of immigration across Canada. By collaborating with federal, provincial, and territorial governments, the program enables regions to attract skilled workers, enhancing their local economies. It remains a prominent pathway for skilled immigration to Canada.

While receiving a provincial nomination does not grant immediate permanent resident (PR) status, it significantly boosts a candidate's application. Those nominated gain an additional 600 Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points in the Express Entry system, virtually guaranteeing an invitation to apply (ITA) in subsequent draws.

Recent Provincial Immigration Results (October 5-11)

Ontario

On October 8, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) issued invitations to candidates through the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream. A total of 885 invitations were extended to candidates in skilled trades occupations, with a minimum score requirement of 48.

Additionally, 841 invitations were granted in a targeted draw for other priority occupations, requiring candidates to have a score of 52 or higher, along with a job offer in a designated priority occupation. A detailed list of priority occupations can be referenced based on the NOC code.

British Columbia

On the same day, October 8, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BCPNP) invited over 173 candidates through the Skilled Worker and International Graduate streams.

Manitoba

On October 10, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) conducted three separate draws:

  • The first draw targeted candidates in the Skilled Worker in Manitoba stream, issuing 82 invitations to individuals who had completed post-secondary education in the province, with a cut-off score of 845 points.
  • On the same day, 114 candidates were invited under the International Education stream.
  • Lastly, the MPNP held a draw for the Skilled Worker Overseas stream, inviting 38 individuals with a minimum score of 711. Eligibility for this draw required candidates to be nominated under a "Strategic Recruitment Initiative" by the MPNP.

These updates illustrate the ongoing opportunities for skilled workers in Canada through the PNP, reinforcing the provinces' commitment to attracting talent and fostering economic growth.
