For individuals seeking economic permanent residence in Canada, proving the authenticity and equivalence of their foreign degrees, diplomas, or certificates to Canadian credentials is a crucial step.

One way to accomplish this is by obtaining an ECA from an IRCC-designated multi-purpose ECA organization or professional body.

Effective May 20, 2024, the Canadian Architectural Certification Board (CACB) has been entrusted by the Minister to issue ECAs specifically for applicants who have identified the National Occupational Classification (NOC) of "Architect" (NOC 21200) as their primary or intended occupation.

ECAs provided by the CACB will ascertain how foreign educational credentials align with Canadian standards required for practicing architecture. Furthermore, these assessments are recognized as a pivotal component in the licensing procedure for architects.

It's essential to note that if your primary occupation is "Architect" (NOC 21200) and you possess an existing ECA issued by another designated organization before October 31, 2024, IRCC will continue to accept it, provided it remains valid.
