Canada Invited PNP Candidates in Latest Express Entry Draw | Canada immigration News
IRCC’s latest Express Entry draw invited 763 PNP candidates, continuing July’s record activity. Explore 2024 draw summaries and key CRS score details.
Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has recently conducted an Express Entry draw, issuing invitations to 763 Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates. This draw, held on August 1, 2024, continues the trend of increased activity in the Express Entry system, following a particularly busy month of July.
July 2024 was a record-setting period for Express Entry, featuring the highest number of draws since the system's launch in 2015. Over the course of nine separate draws, IRCC issued more than 25,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs), signaling a significant ramp-up in immigration processing. This volume of activity is a sharp contrast to the slower pace of June, which saw only one draw.
Among the draws in July, four were category-based, targeting specific groups of candidates. Notably, two of these draws focused on candidates with French language proficiency, with the lowest Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score for these draws being 400. Additionally, two other category-based draws were aimed at candidates in healthcare and trade occupations.
In addition to category-based draws, July also featured several program-specific draws. Two of these were dedicated to candidates in the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), while three were for PNP candidates. The highest CRS score of the month was 739, seen in the PNP draw on July 2.
This surge in program-specific draws reflects IRCC’s commitment to increasing the number of permanent residency opportunities for those already living in Canada. The new focus aligns with the department's strategy to reduce the number of temporary residents while meeting its targets for permanent resident admissions.
