IRCC Issues 500 ITAs to CEC Candidates in Latest Draw

In a significant update, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) recently conducted another Express Entry draw, extending 500 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) exclusively to Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates. This marks the second Express Entry draw this week, focusing on candidates with Canadian work experience.

Key Highlights:

  • Draw Overview:
    • Date: October
    • Program: Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
    • Total ITAs: 500
    • Minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) Score: 539

Provincial Nominee Program Draw Earlier in the Week

Earlier this week, IRCC also issued 1,613 ITAs in a draw aimed solely at Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) candidates, setting the CRS cut-off at 739. This aligns with the trend of targeted draws to cater to specific groups, allowing IRCC to better manage its immigration goals.

Recent CEC-Specific Draws and Trends

The most recent CEC-focused draw before October took place on September 19, where 4,000 candidates were invited, requiring a minimum CRS score of 509. This CRS score showed a slight rise from the August 27 draw, which had a minimum score of 507.

IRCC's emphasis on CEC draws this summer has resulted in 21,800 ITAs for CEC candidates since July, reinforcing the department's objective to prioritize "domestic" candidates and transition temporary residents into permanent residency. This approach is part of IRCC’s strategy to meet its annual targets for new permanent residents.

October Draw Patterns

October has already seen two Express Entry draws, indicating a strong start. For context, IRCC held four draws in October last year, issuing a total of 9,173 ITAs. If the pattern from last year continues, there may be additional draws in the coming weeks, with the potential for more targeted CEC and PNP invitations.
